Carey Henry Keefe is a Tidewater, Virginia-based writer who focuses on narrative nonfiction. A graduate of the University of Richmond Robins School of Business, she began her career in the field of advertising and business management. Her personal essays have been produced on NPR-affiliated stations, as well as articles published in various magazines, print and on-line. Keefe speaks regularly to various groups including Naval alumni chapters, and civic and historical organizations nationwide, about the littlie known account of how the Navy used sports, and especially football, in a revolutionary new training regimen implemented during WWII to train naval aviators, credited with U.S. pilots coming to be known as the “toughest in the world” profiled in her debut work, A Tide of Dreams: The Untold Backstory of Coaches Paul Bryant, Carney Laslie and Frank Moseley.
